Cities across Georgia are encouraged to celebrate Georgia Cities Week April 21-27, with the theme “Georgia's Cities: True Colors!” Sign-up sheets were mailed to cities in December, and resource kits
were mailed in January.
Georgia Cities Week gives cities an opportunity to share information about the valuable services cities provide to residents and how cities positively impact their quality of life. The week is also an opportunity to celebrate community achievements and recognize volunteers and city employees.
includes ideas for celebrating Georgia Cities Week and supporting materials. Some ways in which cities participate include holding city-wide clean ups in conjunction with Keep Georgia Beautiful, recycling events, displays of city equipment, moving council meetings to different locations, and holding open houses at city facilities. Cities are also encouraged to use social media to celebrate and promote their events with the hashtags #GaCities
, and to also send out event reminders via Twitter
or to post interesting facts about the city to its followers.
